Future of Evaluation dialogue brings together leading experts and newcomers in the community to explore how evaluation can become more influential by innovating and adapting to evolving external environments. The Future of Evaluation dialogue brings together leading evaluation experts and leaders, young and emerging evaluators and new voices in the evaluation community and beyond, to explore how innovative approaches and adaptations can make evaluation more influential given the evolving global landscape. By fostering dynamic knowledge exchange, these dialogues seek to enhance evaluation's relevance, ensuring it remains vital for informed decision-making and sustainable development, today and in the future. Building on the momentum from the Summit for the Future of Evaluation , and aligning with the #EvalTorch relay , the Future of Evaluation dialogue provides a platform for collaborative learning to future-proof evaluation. Each monthly session will be strategically linked to key international days, ensuring thematic relevance and amplified outreach by aligning with global observances. The Future of Evaluation dialogue brings together leading evaluation experts and leaders, young and emerging evaluators and new voices in the evaluation community and beyond, to explore how innovative approaches and adaptations can make evaluation more influential given the evolving global landscape. Thursday, 10 March 2026 8:00 am - 9:15 am ET How can evaluation accelerate rights, justice, action, for all women and girls? In observance of the International Women's Day on 8 March 2026, the eighth Future of Evaluation dialogue explored how evaluation can move beyond measurement to actively accelerate rights, justice, and transformative action for all women and girls in an increasingly complex and unequal world. The session examined how feminist, rights-based, and participatory evaluation approaches can challenge structural power imbalances, make invisible inequalities visible, and strengthen accountability for gender-responsive policies and programmes. Bringing together evaluators, policymakers, activists, and practitioners, the dialogue reflected on how evidence can be mobilised in real time to inform decision-making, amplify women and girls’ voices, and support intersectional approaches that leave no one behind. Moderator Gabriela Rentería Flores is a monitoring, evaluation, and learning specialist working at the intersection of climate action, sustainable development, and public policy. She has contributed to evaluation initiatives and served as Chair of the EvalYouth Global Network. She supports evidence-based decision-making, strengthens institutional capacities, and promotes inclusive approaches in evaluation. Panelists Erica Mattellone is a senior leader in international development with over 20 years of experience advancing organizational effectiveness and evidence-informed change. As Chief of Institutional Effectiveness at UNICEF’s Evaluation Office, she leads global evaluations that translate evidence into action to protect children’s rights and expand opportunities for women and girls worldwide. Oyuntsetseg Chuluundorj is a medical doctor and a public health professional by training, with more than 20 years of experience in managing and evaluating development programmes and conducting public health research. Oyuntsetseg currently works for the United Nations Population Fund as a Regional Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Adviser for the Asia and the Pacific region. Arushi Dubey is an Evaluation Consultant with the UN Women Independent Evaluation Service and has been with the organization for over five years. She works at the intersection of gender justice, evidence, and action—leading feminist, rights-based evaluations and translating complex findings into decisions that matter for women and girls, especially in crisis and politically constrained contexts. Stephan Paulsen is a Monitoring and Evaluation practitioner working across complex, multi-stakeholder environments in South Africa and the SADC region. With a strong foundation in programme coordination and evaluation system strengthening, he represents a new generation of evaluators committed to practical evidence use, institutional accountability and meaningful social development impact. Tuesday, 21 April 2026 8:00 am - 9:15 am ET Will the future of evaluation be shaped by its creativity and innovation in facing emergent challenges? In observance of the World Creativity and Innovation Day on 21 April 2026, the ninth Future of Evaluation dialogue explored how innovative approaches in evaluation are reshaping the field to better respond to complexity, uncertainty, and rapid change. It examined the growing use of developmental and adaptive evaluation, along with complexity-aware methods, as essential tools for supporting learning and decision-making in dynamic systems. The dialogue also highlighted the emerging intersection of evaluation with foresight and scenario planning, enabling evaluators and decision-makers to anticipate future risks, opportunities, and transformative pathways. It further considered the role of technological innovation, including digital tools, data science, and AI and underscores the value of creative partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration in pushing the boundaries of evaluation practice which is critical for addressing today’s complex social and development challenges. Moderator Candice Morkel, PhD is the Academic Head of Program at the IPDET at Lifelong Learning Centre at the University of Bern, Switzerland. She has more than 25 years’ experience in government, academia and the non-profit sector, and has served on the boards of the African Evaluation Association, South African M&E Association and the International Evaluation Academy. Panelists Uyen Kim Huynh, PhD, is an Innovation Specialist in UNICEF’s Office of Evaluation with 12+ years’ experience designing impact evaluations of complex programmes in low-income settings. She applies data science and AI to strengthen methodological rigor. Previously at Columbia University, her research focus was multidimensional poverty measurement. Jordi del Bas is a specialist in evaluation, strategy, and organisational development, working as a consultant, university professor, and researcher. With 25+ years of experience, he has supported United Nations agencies, the European Commission, and private sector clients worldwide. His recent work focuses on linking evaluation, learning, and adaptation in complex contexts through developmental evaluation, systems thinking, agile monitoring, and adaptive evaluation. Jennifer Bisgard is a researcher, evaluator, and director with 30+ years' experience leading evaluations across sub-Saharan Africa. Co-founder of Khulisa Management Services, she is now an Independent Advisor. A Johns Hopkins MA graduate, she has held numerous VOPE leadership roles including founding Chair of SAMEA, AfrEA and IOCE board and EvalPartners Management board. Uugantsetseg Gonchigdorj is an independent evaluator and consultant with a background in sociology. She specializes in programme evaluation at the intersection of policy, systems, and institutional learning across diverse development sectors. The Summit marked the fifth anniversary of the Eval4Action campaign and the tenth anniversary of the EvalYouth Global Network and the Global Parliamentarian Forum for Evaluation (GPFE). Inspired by the United Nations Summit of the Future and its resulting Pact for the Future , this Summit called for global collaboration in the evaluation field to accelerate the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on meaningful youth engagement in evaluation and the ethical use of AI in evaluation. The Summit featured the #EvalTorch relay signifying a collaborative journey towards the future of evaluation. The Summit also hosted the 2025 Youth in Evaluation Champions Award Ceremony, honoring organizations committed to empowering young evaluators. Tunatambua kwamba watathmini wachanga na wanaoibukia wanachangia kikamilifu katika kuunda utamaduni wa kimataifa wa tathmini, na wanazidisha nguvu ya mabadiliko ya tathmini ili kujenga ulimwengu endelevu, jumuishi, na wenye usawa ulioandaliwa na haki ya kijamii na usawa. Tunakubali jukumu na wajibu wetu katika kukuza na kusaidia ushiriki wenye maana wa vijana wote na watathmini wachanga na wanaochipukia katika michakato ya tathmini na katika wahamasishaji wa tathmini, ili kusaidia kufanikiwa kwa Mpango wa Maendeleo Endelevu. Tunajitolea kufanya juhudi za kimkakati na za pamoja ili kujenga uwezo wa kitaaluma wa watathmini vijana na wanaoibukia. regional consultations Moving toward action for influential evaluation Since the genesis of Eval4Action, the campaign has re-energized the global evaluation community and wider stakeholders, and put a greater spotlight on evaluation being the highest accelerator for achieving the SDGs. To co-create actions for influential evaluation, Eval4Action invites regional VOPEs, regional EvalYouth chapters and regional parliamentarians fora to organize regional consultations with support from Eval4Action co-leaders, notably UNFPA, EvalYouth Global Network and the Global Parliamentarians Forum for Evaluation. The idea is to promote inclusiveness and participation, and to engage the highest number of diverse stakeholders. The Eval4Action regional consultations seek to provide a platform to regional and national evaluators and other stakeholders to: Strengthen dialogue and partnerships towards influential evaluation, in the context of COVID-19 and the SDGs Identify concrete commitments and action for influential evaluation, to accelerate progress towards the SDGs In one year since the launch of the campaign, seven Eval4Action regional consultations have been held, including in the Asia Pacific , MENA , Latin America and the Caribbean , Europe , Eurasia , Africa and North America. December October July 2021 June North America April 2020 Africa Eurasia Europe LAC MENA Asia Pacific Post the regional consultations, participatory follow-up processes are co-creating regional evaluation action plans and commitments for influential evaluation towards the achievement of the SDGs. In many regions, regional consultations are paving the way for sub-regional and national consultations that are helping to further spotlight local evaluation priorities, action plans and partnerships for influential evaluation.
