Panelists Natalia Nikitenko is a former Member of Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic from 2010 until 2022. She has chaired two Parliament Committees and is an initiator of more than 320 laws and amendments. She is a member of the Steering Committee of Global Parliamentarians Forum for Evaluation, a member of Eurasian Parliamentarians Forum for Evaluation, and a member of the National Evaluation Network of the Kyrgyz Republic. She is the author of the Law on Evaluation of the Kyrgyz Republic (2014), author of the Parliament Act and Methodology on the implementation of evaluation of laws and governmental programmes and policies. Brenda Bucheli is a social psychologist with a Master's in Human Resources and Knowledge Management. She is a specialist in planning, evaluation, knowledge management and capacity development with 30 years of experience. Brenda is the former Director of Pact Peru and USAID Peru MELS project and led 60+ consulting projects in Latin America. She is also the founder of EvalPeru and ReLAC (Latin American and Caribbean Network of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Systematization), and is the current ReLAC General Coordinator. Tuesday, 23 September 2025 8:00 am - 9:15 am ET How can evaluation be a force for peace and resilience building amidst global instability? The second Future of Evaluation dialogue on 23 September 2025, held in observance of the International Day of Peace (21 September), delved into the critical role of evaluation in navigating the complexities of global instability and humanitarian crises and fostering peace and resilience. This dialogue discussed adaptive and context-sensitive evaluation, which, by adhering to the "Do No Harm" principle, offers a blueprint for more responsive and ethical evaluation everywhere. The session also covered the use of mixed methods and innovative data sources to understand complex environments, demonstrating the broader shift toward integrating technology and diverse data into all evaluative practices. It also focused on locally led evaluation, underscoring the importance of community participation for both effective peacebuilding and for shaping evaluation to be more equitable in the present and the future. Youth in Evaluation champion awards recognized organizations across sectors and regions for their exemplary efforts to advance youth engagement in evaluation. Youth in Evaluation champions The Youth in Evaluation Champion Awards honour organizations that actively embed the Youth in Evaluation standards into how they design, conduct, and utilize evaluative evidence. Launched in 2024 , the awards are a global benchmark for institutional commitment to advancing young people’s participation in evaluation. The 2025 awards were presented at the Summit for the Future of Evaluation. While these awards provide well-deserved recognition, their impact extends further by serving as a catalyst for systemic change. They bridge the intergenerational gap in evaluation and establish benchmarks for youth participation in evaluation, strengthening the entire development sector. Now in their third year, the 2026 award cycle included participation from 42 organizations—representing a diverse ecosystem of academia, governments, VOPEs, youth networks, international bodies, the private sector, and United Nations agencies—who submitted rigorous self-assessments against the global standards. Eval4Action 2.0 The Eval4Action campaign and partners have championed influential evaluation and advanced national evaluation capacities and systems for half a decade. In 2025, #Eval4Action 2.0 was launched — renewing the campaign’s strategic direction in a more complex global landscape. #Eval4Action 2.0 advocates for adaptive and future-proof evaluation that remains influential, relevant, and inclusive — deepening the campaign’s focus on youth leadership in evaluation and developing thought leadership on the future of evaluation. The strategic direction for #Eval4Action 2.0 was set at the Summit for the Future of Evaluation in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in May 2025. This vision is carried forward through monthly Future of Evaluation dialogues — linked to major international observances throughout the year — and through deepened youth integration across all levels of the campaign. Youth in evaluation Youth leadership is a defining and sustained commitment of the Eval4Action campaign and partners. The Youth in Evaluation initiative is built around a living manifesto to meaningfully engage young people and young evaluators in evaluation processes worldwide. A call to action to meaningfully engage youth and young evaluators in evaluation Standards for enhancing meaningful engagement of youth in evaluation Access the standards The standards provide practical guidance and pathways for organizations of all types to initiate and advance the meaningful engagement of youth in evaluation. The standards also serve as an accountability mechanism for the delivery of the commitments in the Youth in Evaluation manifesto . Howe ver, regardless of whether an organization has signed the manifesto, all interested organizations are encouraged to use the standards to strengthen their capacity and practice to engage youth in all phases of evaluation. The standards are structured around six dimensions: leadership and accountability; practice; advocacy and capacity development; knowledge management and communications; human resources; and financial resources. It also includes a guide and rating scale for assessing the implementation of the standards. Given the unique contexts of stakeholders, specific standards have been developed for six stakeholder groups: academia, governments, international organizations, the private sector, VOPEs/EvalYouth chapters and youth organizations. The standards were co-created by intergenerational stakeholder task forces, and launched in April 2023 at the Youth in Evaluation week . In 2024, standards were updated based on the feedback from the first round of self-assessments earlier in the year. Each year, organizations are invited to share their self-assessment against the Youth in Evaluation standards with the Eval4Action campaign by 31 January. These self-assessments form the basis for the Youth in Evaluation champion awards , which recognize organizations demonstrating excellence in the meaningful inclusion of young people in evaluation. The Future of Evaluation dialogue brings together leading evaluation experts and leaders, young and emerging evaluators and new voices in the evaluation community and beyond, to explore how innovative approaches and adaptations can make evaluation more influential given the evolving global landscape. Wednesday, 19 August 2026 8:00 am - 9:15 am ET How can evaluation innovate to accelerate learning in humanitarian action amidst escalating crises? While humanitarian crises are becoming more frequent, complex, and interconnected due to conflict, climate change, displacement, pandemics, and economic instability, the funding landscape for humanitarian action has drastically shifted in recent years. What does this mean for the evaluation of humanitarian action? How can evaluative evidence be used for change by humanitarian actors in the present context? This Future of Evaluation dialogue explored how evaluation can innovate to accelerate learning and improve decision-making in humanitarian action. The discussion examined emerging approaches such as real-time and adaptive evaluation, complexity-aware methods, artificial intelligence, remote data collection, and evaluative foresight to generate evidence that is responsive to rapidly evolving contexts. It also considered how participatory and locally led evaluation can strengthen accountability to affected populations while fostering continuous learning and adaptation. By bringing together humanitarian practitioners, evaluators, and thought leaders, the dialogue aimed to identify the future-ready evaluation approaches and capabilities needed to support more effective, equitable, and resilient humanitarian responses in an era of escalating crises. Moderator Khaled Rajab is Country Director of Anera in Palestine and an international governance, humanitarian, and evaluation expert with over 20 years of experience. He has led and evaluated programmes across more than 15 countries for USAID, the World Bank, UN agencies, and other multilateral and bilateral donors, specializing in governance, humanitarian action, institutional reform, and organizational learning. Panelists Sarah Gharbi is a Research Fellow at ALNAP with 20 years of experience in the humanitarian and development sectors. She has worked with several international agencies as an evaluation advisor, researcher, and evaluator. She is the co-author of the ALNAP evaluation guide on adapting the OECD criteria to humanitarian contexts. Nur Abdelkhaliq Zamora is Principal Consultant at IOD PARC, an employee-owned monitoring and evaluation company based in the UK. She has over 18 years of research and consulting experience and has worked on assignments with organisations including UNRWA, UNHCR, WFP, IOM, Danish Red Cross, the European Commission and GIZ. She holds a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Edinburgh. Eddah Kanini is a monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), organizational development, and gender specialist with over fifteen years of professional experience advancing transformative evaluation practice across Sub-Saharan Africa and globally. Eddah has played active leadership roles in national, continental and global evaluation bodies such as the Monitoring and Evaluation Professionals Association of Kenya (MEPAK), African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), AGDEN, IDEAS, and EvalPartners initiatives. Camilla Buch von Schroeder is a Humanitarian Evaluation Specialist at the UNFPA Independent Evaluation Office. She brings over two decades of experience in programme and people management, evaluation and operational research in humanitarian and development contexts across Africa. Her core expertise spans sexual and reproductive health and gender-based-violence in emergencies, youth and adolescent programming, social and behaviour change, and humanitarian-peace-development nexus programming.
